Lilies

Lilies are one of my favourite flowers and I have the need to paint them time and time again I have the need to relive the experience of observing their ethereal beauty, their sculptural structure and their intoxicating and magical qualities. Over the years I have accumulated several pots of lilies around my garden in different varieties such as Ebony an incredibly deep maroon lily that is nearly black and Salmon Star which is white with the most delicate pink, orange and salmon coloured markings.

The lily painted above was just so fabulous early on this year that every morning that I arose it was there developing from the buds and I had to photograph it several times over a couple of weeks through out its flowering period. The photos were taken with the  morning sun behind them and the petals were so luminous I felt it an impossible task to capture them.I just adore this group of buds and their colour flanked by a couple of blooms one side and just one bud opening at the other end and the striking magenta markings on the back of the flower.

Acrylic on block canvas with painted edges for contemporary  hanging with out a frame, hanging cord attached and signed on the front 60cm x 60cm retail price £320 exclusive of post and package please see how to order for more details
