Clay for People with
Special Needs |
 |
Claire was showing her ceramics at Art in Clay when she was
commissioned by A & C Black to write a book
on Clay for People with Special Needs. With
seventeen years experience of this work and
years of creating
ideas and techniques to assist people
with disabilities, was able to produce this
book helping develop
peoples artistic and technical skills.
She
wrote this as a handy guide for any one
who has special needs ranging from learning
and physical disabilities to the
occupational therapy of dealing with
psychiatric illness. The book being
written in a very straight forward language so that
non potters will not be overwhelmed by
terminology and that it can be used by
carer's, nurses and occupational therapists
within their roles.
Claire
has
written about specific projects and
ideas that she has developed and that have
been tried and tested over the years, each
chapter instructs you step by step from the
beginning including any patterns you may
need the techniques of how to do it and
firing and glazing the final piece, the main
objective of this book is to enhance peoples
lives through building skills and self
esteem and to make it as easy and clear as
possible for the people concerned to follow.
